Topical Cannabis Products

What is a topical cannabis product?

Lotions, salves, lubricants and balms are commonly referred to as "topicals". These are cannabis infused products that are applied to the skin. Patients enjoy them because these products tend to offer localized pain relief, rather than a "Full-Body High" feeling. There is no psychoactivity associated with topicals because the THC (and other cannabinoids) do not penetrate the skin enough to cross in to the bloodstream.

What conditions can topical cannabis products help relieve?

Topicals can help with a number of skin conditions like acne, burn wounds, psoriasis and more.

They are also extremely helpful with muscle knots and even personal lubrication.

Make your own!

Lotion

  1. Mix 2-3 grams of cannabis concentrate (wax preferable to shatter which is preferable to kief) into 1/2-3/4 cup of lotion (whatever is agreeable with your skin), and heat the mixture in a covered glass jar (a cleaned-out salsa container, for example), inside a bath of rolling-boiling water for about 40 minutes.
  2. Once the mixture is a liquidy mess, remove it from the boiling water, and shake vigorously (with oven mitts on) for at least a minute
  3. Let the mixture re-congeal in a cool environment, such as the fridge or freezer.
