Coronavirus Crisis Shows Marijuana is ‘Essential’ & MainstreamSummary by David Eyler The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced businesses and companies to close indefinitely if they are deemed unessential by the state. Such entities include barber shops, sport organizations, national parks and many more across the United States. Despite this global pandemic, medical cannabis dispensaries in the United States remain open for business. Ironically, it was only a few years ago in this country individuals would be arrested for selling marijuana.
In 2020, the legal distribution of cannabis is a cornerstone for thousands of individuals during this hardship. Those who need medical marijuana for ailments will continue to have access to medical cannabis. Because of this, it is crucial these locations across the country remain open during the pandemic. While dispensaries remain open, these locations are emphasizing how important social distancing is to remain healthy. These organizations are doing this by limiting the amount of patients allowed in the buildings, six feet distance between customers and home delivery in some states. Despite these companies’ best efforts to supply their products to patients, many are unsure how long this will last. As total revenue is expected to decline, many dispensaries are unsure of their economic future not only for employees, but the entire company.
